Terms & Donor Policy

Donations

By making a donation, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • The payment method belongs to you and you have authority to use it
  • The donation is given freely with no expectation of goods or services in return

Donations on our website may be made by:

  • Direct bank transfer (details shown on the donate page)
  • Direct Debit through GoCardless (one-off or recurring)
  • Card payment through Stripe (if enabled)

All donations are processed in pounds sterling (GBP). Donors in other currencies may see their bank apply an exchange rate.

Refunds

Donations are non-refundable except in the following circumstances:

  • A donation was made in error (wrong amount, duplicate transaction) — contact us within 14 days
  • A donation was made fraudulently using your payment method without consent — contact us as soon as you discover it
  • For UK Direct Debit donors, the Bacs Direct Debit Guarantee gives you the right to a full and immediate refund from your bank for any incorrect or unauthorised debit

To request a refund, email info@zanzibaredusupport.org with your name, donation date, and amount. We aim to process refunds within 14 working days.

Gift Aid

If you indicate that you are a UK taxpayer and tick the Gift Aid box, you confirm that:

  • You are a UK taxpayer
  • You understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year, it is your responsibility to pay the difference
  • You authorise us to reclaim Gift Aid on your eligible donations

You can cancel your Gift Aid declaration at any time by emailing us.

Recurring donations (Direct Debit)

If you set up a recurring Direct Debit:

  • Payments are taken automatically on the schedule you agreed
  • You can cancel at any time by contacting your bank or emailing us
  • You are protected by the Bacs Direct Debit Guarantee
  • We will give you at least 3 working days' notice of any change in amount or date

How donations are used

We commit to using donations responsibly, in line with our charitable purposes. Our charitable purposes are the relief of poverty and the advancement of education for children in Zanzibar.

We aim to direct as much of each donation as possible to our programmes, less unavoidable processing fees (payment processor fees, banking costs).

Website use

You may use this website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

  • Use the site in a way that could damage or disrupt it
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information

Intellectual property
